Please note: There will be no free compost giveaway at this event. Residents are welcome to bring small electrical appliances/electrical devices and household hazardous waste for drop-off. Please speak to staff at the event for pick-up arrangements of major appliances throughout the year.

The Seniors’ Information Session is designed to help seniors and their families learn about the benefits and programs offered by the Municipal, Provincial and Federal governments, as well as community organizations. Representatives will be setting up booths where you can obtain information and ask questions about the services they provide; discuss issues of interest to you; and, express your concerns.

Save The Grace Community BBQ June 14th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

I would like to invite residents to a free Community BBQ in support of the campaign against the closure of the Obstetrics and In-Patient Pediatrics Departments at the Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Site, affectionately known in our community as the “Scarborough Grace”.

The Save The Grace Community BBQ will be hosted at the Kidstown Water Park (3159 Birchmount Rd [Birchmount/McNicoll]) on Friday, June 14th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please join me and the doctors of the Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Site as we continue to fight against these hospital closures.

As your City Councillor, I have continued to be engaged with all community schools regarding school zone traffic safety measures. At the last Scarborough Community Council meeting, Brookmill Boulevard Junior Public School received approval for new traffic safety measures. They now join two other schools which received new traffic safety measures during the previous term of Toronto City Council.

Ward 22, Scarborough-Agincourt will be experiencing residential and commercial developments over the next few years. In order to keep residents well-informed of the upcoming developments in our community, my office will be hosting a Ward 22 All-Development Community Meeting. Residents are welcome to come and view proposed development plans and ask questions of representatives of the development sites, City Staff, and me.

Community Environment Day – Sunday, May 19th from 10:00 am to 2:00pm at the Bridlewood Mall South-East Parking Lot (2900 Warden Avenue).

Mark your calendars for the first Community Environment Day of 2019! This year’s first Community Environment Day will take place on Sunday, May 19th from 10:00 am to 2:00pm at the Bridlewood Mall South-East Parking Lot (2900 Warden Avenue).

 

Community Environment Days provide an opportunity for residents to dispose of hazardous waste, electronics and home health-care waste. Residents are also encouraged to bring household items and non-perishable food items for donation. Free compost will be available for pickup at this event, while supplies last (limit of one car trunkload per household).

Scar Health Network The Scarborough Health Network decided on Jan. 24, 2019 to close in-patient Women’s and Children’s services at its Birchmount campus in Agincourt. – Dan Pearce/Metroland

A community campaign is forming against closure of obstetrics and pediatrics wards at Scarborough Health Network’s Birchmount site, as Agincourt residents, doctors and other medical staff look to the province to intervene.

February 13th, 2019 – Flag Raising Ceremony of the 54th National Flag Day of Canada

 

Come and celebrate National Flag Day of Canada with the community! The Toronto Kaiteur Lions Club will be hosting a flag raising ceremony on Wednesday, February 13th from 10:30 am to 11:30am at L’Amoreaux Community Centre (2000 McNicoll Avenue). In the past, many community members and schools have participated in this annual Ceremony honouring the red-and-white Maple Leaf Flag, a symbol of Canadian pride and unity. Refreshments will be provided.
