Each National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Toronto presents 25 of the city’s most exceptional volunteers with a Legacy Award to recognize their contributions to the community. We want to celebrate her. Every year, YWCA Toronto honours the work of remarkable women who are creating new opportunities for women and girls in our city and around the globe in a wide array of areas such as business, education, social justice, advocacy, arts, health and philanthropy.

Our Community Environment Day allows us to do our part in creating a cleaner, greener and more livable community.

Please bring your unused and unwanted household items and you will help to:

  • Extend the life of a product by offering it to someone for reuse;
  • Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and ensure that it properly recycled; and,
  • Ensure that hazardous waste materials are disposed of safely.

Please do not bring: construction waste, gasoline, garbage, wood, cassette and videotapes, commercial/industrial hazardous waste and scrap metal.

Incidents such as home and car break ins; Canada Revenue Agency scam calls threatening residents to pay fines or go to jail; immigration related calls; and, aggressive door-to door sales people claiming that they want to check furnaces, hot water heaters and air conditioners to see if the homeowner is eligible for an upgrade. These incidents can cost you thousands of dollars!
