Karygiannis concerned about Uber recruitment of new Canadians as Uberx drivers

TORONTO – Jim Karygiannis, Councillor for Ward 39, Scarborough-Agincourt, has written to community organizations, which assist in the settlement of new Canadians, warning them that Transportation Network Company in Canada (also known as Uber) are possibly recruiting new immigrants as drivers.

“New immigrants are eager to find employment so they can look after their families.” said Mr. Karygiannis.  “They want to become active members of Canadian society.  Uber is taking advantage of them.”

November 4, 2015 – City of Toronto working on a Tree Planting Strategy

The City of Toronto’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation division, in consultation with Toronto Water, Transportation Services, City Planning and Economic Development and Culture, will develop a Tree Planting Strategy to inspire action to reach the City’s target of 40 per cent tree canopy cover over the next 30 to 40 years. The development of the strategy will also involve consultation with residents, the public, internal and external stakeholders and community partners.
