You are invited to a Community Flag Raising Ceremony Friday, February 14, 2018 10:00 am
February 15, 2017, marks the 52nd anniversary of National Flag Day in Canada when we celebrate this enduring emblem of what it means to be a proud Canadian. On February 15, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag flew for the very first time.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year.
Once again this year, I will be posting the City of Toronto Winter Maintenance Activities. Please visit my website at http://karygiannis.net/wp/category/snow-weather-advisory/ for updates and notices of major snowfalls.

A PARKING REMINDER – Winter is here and the City needs to clear snow when it falls. Cars that are parked on streets during the day and night interfere with snow plow operations. Please do not park your cars on the road so that our roads can be cleared quickly and our streets stay safe.
Happy New Year may 2018 be healthy and prosperous for you and your family.
I have been working to deliver on the promise of a Fundy Bay Skateboard Park and playground enhancements. In December, I hosted a public meeting with City staff and the design consultant where residents were invited to provide feedback on the proposed plans. The consultation phase is now complete.

There are a number of items coming up in City Council next week which have me gravely concerned:
RE: Nanjing Massacre Commemorative Day Event
Dear Community Leader:
I am writing to formally invite you to a very significant event for the Chinese community in the Greater Toronto Area in commemorating the Nanjing Massacre.
I hope this message finds you and your family well.
This has been a busy month in Scarborough-Agincourt, and at City Hall, for a number of issues that directly affect our community. One issue is that of short-term “home-sharing” rentals like those offered by Airbnb and other similar companies.
I hope this message finds you and your family well.
Last Thursday, I hosted a Town Hall Meeting for the new SmartTrack – GO Transit station planned for Finch – Kennedy (which is proposed with no parking lot). City of Toronto and Metrolinx staff attended, listened and answered questions from residents on this station.
City Planning is NOT supportive of a Pick-Up and Drop-Off centre at the station or a Commuter Parking Lot. This is a mistake. My position on a Commuter Parking Lot is clear: Suburban residents north of the 401 must have the ability to drive to the station to take transit downtown. Without a parking lot, commuters will pass on taking transit and this will increase gridlock.
I want to take this opportunity to share information on news and events happening in Scarborough-Agincourt and across the city. Particularly:
- Beverly Glen School Pumpkin Parade
- Steeles/Agincourt featured in Toronto Life’s November Issue
- News: A majority of Torontonians identify themselves as Visible Minorities
- St. Sylvester Separate School visit to City Hall
- Safety Reminders and Warnings
- Birchmount-McNicoll Street Light Installation
- Road Resurfacing, Sidewalk, and Curb Repairs on Ambercroft Boulevard
- L’Amoreaux Park North Planting Plan for Fall 2017
- McNicoll Bus Garage Weekend Work
- Toastmasters Meetings for Public Speaking Development
- Nominations for Women of Distinction Awards
- Neighbourhood Grants Call for Applications
- WaterSource “Not Down The Drain” Campaign
- Toronto Public Health Free Flu Vaccinations
- Weekend events with Road Closures in Toronto
