Dear Constituent:

I hope this message finds you and your family well and that you are enjoying these last warm days of summer.

Especially at this time of year, it is important to remind ourselves to stay safe while driving our children to school. You may have noticed “Slow Down Signs” on the lawns near schools. These serve to remind passing motorists that they are in a school zone and must slow down. If you would like a “Slow Down Sign” delivered to your home for use on your lawn, please click here.

You may have noticed my team members at your door in recent weeks. We are knocking on doors in the ward to say hello and to pass on a message to complete our Ward 39 Rooming House Survey. As you know, the City is pushing through a pilot project that would allow Rooming Houses in our community as a “temporary study.” My position is clear: I am against Rooming Houses. If you have not completed the survey, please access it through my website at the following link and I appreciate your feedback: http://karygiannis.net/wp/local-engagement-3

Dear Constituents:

This weekend, we celebrate Canada Day – Canada’s 150th Birthday.  Canadians, across the land and overseas, will join together in July 1st festivities.

Whether they gather on Signal Hill, overlooking St. John’s harbour, for the pre-dawn flag raising ceremony; witness the noontime 21 gun salute and fly past on Parliament Hill; march in parades; attend concerts and BBQs; watch fireworks; are sworn in as Canadian citizens at special sessions of Citizenship Court; or, celebrate Canada Day abroad – July 1st is an important day for all Canadians.

This week, I hosted a press conference for English and Chinese media on the present and dangerous state of Rooming Houses in Ward 39. I am calling on the City of Toronto to wake up, listen to and respect the concerns of residents in Ward 39 opposed to Rooming Houses.

Canada Day is right around the corner. This year, July 1st will be particularly special because it is the 150th anniversary of our country’s birth. “Canada 150” is promising to be the largest national celebration of Canada on record. It will be an opportunity to join with family, friends and neighbours to celebrate our great country and ruteflect on our shared heritage. Our country’s rich diversity is something for all Canadians to celebrate.

Dear Constituents,

I want to wish you and your family a restful Victoria Day long weekend.

This week, I had the privilege to participate in Toronto Newcomer Day as Toronto’s Newcomer Advocate on City Council. I joined thousands of residents at Nathan Phillips Square to celebrate our diversity and embrace our shared future in Canada. It was an honour to lead a Citizenship Ceremony for many new Canadians joining our Canadian family.
