McNicoll Bus Garage meeting to be hosted by TTC

The TTC is again bringing its plans for the McNicoll Bus Garage to northwest Scarborough residents on Thursday, Feb. 5.

The commission, which bought land east of Kennedy Road and north of McNicoll Avenue in 2005, says a garage is badly needed to service its expanding bus fleet.

Agincourt residents can have their say on Monday, Jan. 26, on what they’d like to see, or not see, in the City of Toronto’s 2015 budget.

Jim Karygiannis, councillor for Ward 39 (Scarborough-Agincourt), hosts a budget forum for his constituents from 7 to 9 p.m. at L’Amoreaux Community Recreation Centre on McNicoll Avenue.

Young baseball players say a jump in fees charged by the city is threatening to price them off the field.

The baseball diamonds at Neilson Park — home of the Scarborough Stingers baseball club — have been reclassified by officials, so fees to use them will go up in stages over the next two years.

For Scarborough’s city councillors, 2015 looks like a year to keep doing stuff they did before and, just maybe, something they only dreamed of doing.

Not so for Jim Karygiannis, the only new city councillor for the area. Topping his to-do list are two things his constituents may want, but which his most of his colleagues would say are impossible.

Job One: Stop and then move the proposed McNicoll Avenue bus garage, which Toronto’s transit commission says is desperately needed, not to mention a done deal.
