Toronto UberX drivers face 72 by-law charges

The City of Toronto has issued 72 tickets against UberX drivers.

Licensing officials confirmed Tuesday that around half of those charges were laid after last week’s council decision that urged bylaw enforcement officers to crack down on UberX.

Uber’s UberX connects private drivers – rather than taxi or limo drivers – with paying passengers through the ride-sharing app.

Karygiannis tells Pan Am visitors to ‘beware’ of uberX

One Toronto city councillor says Pan Am Games visitors should steer clear of using services like uberX during their stay in Toronto unless they want to risk a massive fine.

Coun. Jim Karygiannis claims that uberX passengers could face a penalty between $300 to $20,000 for using the ride-hailing service.
