January 7, 2020 – Eastern Orthodox Christmas
I would like to take the opportunity to wish members of the Eastern Orthodox, Coptic, Armenian and other Orthodox Christian Communities a Merry Christmas.
In the Orthodox tradition, a forty day fast occurs before the Nativity of our Lord. The faithful abstain from foods derived from animals on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Sundays, the faithful honour the old Covenant between God and Abraham and the Covenant between God and those who believe in Christ.
I hope your fast has blessed you and your family both spiritually and physically. May this holy season be filled with joy, peace, happiness and love.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
