October 14, 2019 – Thanksgiving
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
The tradition of ‘giving thanks’ can be traced back to the earliest days of our history. In 1578, after his third unsuccessful expedition in search of the Northwest Passage, explorer Martin Frobisher returned to what is now Newfoundland and Labrador. Upon his arrival, he held a formal ceremony to give thanks for surviving the long, arduous journey.
At this time of year, Canadians gather to celebrate the bounty of the harvest and give thanks for our many blessings. Let us also keep in our thoughts and prayers the people in Toronto, Canada and throughout the world who are in need; members of the Canadian Forces at home and abroad; and, all Canadian Veterans who answered their country’s call and who fought to protect our way of life.
There are many ways to express our gratefulness but “Thank You” still says it best.
Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!
