May Wrap-Up – 2019 E-Newsletter
With the beginning of summer, the Scarborough-Agincourt community will be gearing up for a variety of events and activities. My office will be hosting a free Community BBQ in support of the campaign against the closures of the Obstetrics and In-Patient Pediatrics Departments at the Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Site, affectionately known in our community as the “Scarborough Grace”.
The Save The Grace Community BBQ will be hosted at the Kidstown Water Park (3159 Birchmount Rd [Birchmount/McNicoll]) on Friday, June 14th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please join me and the doctors of the Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Site as we continue to fight against the hospital closures.

Road Closure – Steeles Avenue East from Redlea Avenue to Silver Star Boulevard
Please note that there will be a full closure of Steeles Avenue East between Redlea Avenue and Silver Star Boulevard, between 8:00 pm on Friday, May 24 to 6:00 am on Monday, May 27, 2019. As part of the Stouffville GO Expansion and Regional Express Rail projects, a temporary diversion railway track will be installed at the railway crossing located on Steeles Avenue East by EllisDon Transit Infrastructure.

Ward 22 All-Development Community Meeting
Ward 22, Scarborough-Agincourt will be experiencing residential and commercial developments over the next few years. In order to keep residents well-informed of the upcoming developments in our community, my office will be hosting a Ward 22 All-Development Community Meeting. Residents are welcome to come and view proposed development plans and ask questions of representatives of the development sites, City Staff, and me.

Ward 22 All-Schools Traffic Safety Community Meeting
As your City Councillor, I have continued to be engaged with all community schools regarding school zone traffic safety measures. At the last Scarborough Community Council meeting, Brookmill Boulevard Junior Public School received approval for new traffic safety measures. They now join two other schools which received new traffic safety measures during the previous term of Toronto City Council.
In continuing my commitment to ensuring your child’s safety, I will be hosting a Community Meeting, with City of Toronto Staff, to discuss traffic safety measures for each Ward 22, Scarborough-Agincourt school.

Kennedy Public School Fair
Come out and join the Kennedy Public School community for an afternoon of fun with the family! The Fair will feature a variety of games and rides, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, food trucks, face painting and more.

Associations of Northern Scarborough Community BBQ
The Scarborough Community Associations’ BBQ celebrates the collaboration and achievements of our diverse neighbourhoods through the perseverance and support by our community associations and dedicated residents. It is an afternoon to mix and mingle, grab a hot dog, learn about the services our city has to offer, and further discover the neighbourhoods we live, play, and work in.

Agincourt Public Library Customer Appreciation Day
The Scarborough-Agincourt community has always been supportive of the three local Toronto Public Library branches – and now, it is your turn to be thanked for your support! The Agincourt Public Library will be hosting a Customer Appreciation Day featuring a Puppet Musical Show, Chinese Dance Performances and a tour of the Digital Innovation Hub and Green Screen Room.

Toronto Kaiteur Lions Club Annual Electronics Recycling Event
The Toronto Kaiteur Lions Club, in conjunction with the Ontario Electronics Stewardship, will be hosting their annual Electronic Recycling Collection Event on Saturday, June 15th. Accepted items include computers, printers, televisions and other portable electronic items. Clothing will also be accepted for donation. (Please note: large electronic items including fridges, stoves, washers, dryers and dishwashers will not be accepted)

Road Closure at Finch Ave. East between Milliken Boulevard and Baylawn Drive
Please note that there will be a full closure of Finch Avenue East between Milliken Boulevard and Baylawn Drive, between 7:00 am on Saturday, June 1st to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 2nd 2019. As part of the Stouffville GO Line expansion, Metrolinx is undertaking track panel upgrades and watermain constructions along the Stouffville line railway corridor.

Arts in the Parks 2019
It’s that time of year for Arts in the Parks again! This year, Ward 22, Scarborough-Agincourt will have 3 feature performances hosted at Beverly Glen Park (75 Beverly Glen Boulevard), with the first event, The Heart of the Park – Kaeja d’Dance being held on July 6th, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm. Toronto Hydro Scam Calls and Messages
In 2018, Toronto Hydro received more than 1100 reports of scams, and customers have paid more than $45,000 to fraudsters. The majority of scams target small business and residential customers. TTC Subway Closures Month of June
Maintaining subway infrastructure in a state-of-good-repair is critical to ensuring a safe, reliable transit system. While the TTC does much of its maintenance work on the subway at the conclusion of service each night, it will continue to require weekend closures to complete improvements to infrastructure and signals.
