March 2, 2019 – March 2019 E-Newsletter

Dear Neighbour:

I hope this message finds you and your family well.

Last Monday, over 600 residents of Scarborough attended the ‘Save The Grace’ Town Hall at L’Amoreaux Community Centre. I would first like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone for their attendance at the Town Hall. Your presence and active participation has sent a clear message that Scarborough residents do not accept the closure of the two Departments at the Scarborough Grace and that residents will continue to strongly fight against these closures.

If you were unable to attend the Town Hall, but would like to participate in the ‘Save The Grace’ campaign, my office has “Petition Packages” available containing a Petition, flyers and buttons. If you would like us to deliver a Package, please do not hesitate to contact us at 416 321 2788 or drop by the Constituency Office located at 3850 Finch Avenue East, Unit G7.

For the full press release regarding the ‘Save The Grace’ Town Hall, please click here.

To fill in the ePetition please click here.

Please take a moment to pass this message along to your neighbours, family and friends.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Councillor Jim Karygiannis

Salt Your Driveways and Sidewalks

With the heavy amount of snowfall and freezing rain over the past week, many of our streets have become extremely slippery. I would like to kindly remind community members to generously sprinkle salt on driveways and sidewalks after a round of snow plowing has taken place. Doing so will greatly reduce the risk of accidents and injuries to residents walking along our neighbourhood streets.

Save Lives – Register as an Organ Donor Today!

In Ontario, there are over 1,600 people waiting for a life-saving transplant, one of whom will die every 3 days. One single donor could save the lives of up to 8 people through the gift of organ donation and significantly enhance the lives of 75 others through the gift of tissue.

There is still a lot of work to do to save more lives. Currently, over 350 people in Toronto are on the Wait List to receive organ donations, including 24 people that live in our Scarborough-Agincourt community. I encourage everyone to register and give consent to donate and to take a moment to talk to your loved ones about this life-saving decision. You can easily register your consent to donate online at www.BeADonor.ca or in person at any ServiceOntario location.
