Once again, our hospital, Scarborough Hospital – Grace Division (Birchmount Campus), is under attack!
The Scarborough Hospital – Grace Division (Birchmount Campus) is one of three hospitals that make up the Scarborough Health Network. It is the only hospital north of the 401. Yet again, the needs of northern Scarborough residents are being ignored.
The Board of Directors of the Scarborough Health Network has voted to close the Obstetrics and Inpatient Pediatrics Departments at our hospital.
Your spouse is pregnant and has just gone into labour. Under the new regime, you will have to get into your car and drive between a half hour and an hour to a hospital. During rush hour, it will take longer!
Your child is ill and in hospital. In order to see your child, you will have to get into your car and drive between a half hour and an hour to a hospital. During rush hour, it will take longer!
Neither of these scenarios is fair to you!
This is the second time these closures have been proposed. The last time, as a community, we fought back and stopped the closures.
It’s time to fight back again!!
I am asking you to join the campaign. On February 25th, at 7:30pm, we will be hosting the Save The Grace Town Hall at the L’Amoreaux Community Centre’s Ground Floor – Large Function Room (2000 McNicoll Avenue). Sightings of Coyotes Are Normal in Parts of Toronto
Toronto residents who live near ravines and forests – typical coyote habitat – can expect an increase in coyote sightings during this time of year. Coyotes are active day and night, but prefer to hunt after dusk or before dawn.
Residents should follow these steps to minimize negative encounters with coyotes:
- Avoid feeding them. Feeding wild animals, including coyotes, is detrimental and can create problems for the neighbourhood.
- Avoid feeding pets outdoors.
- Ensure that all household garbage is inaccessible to animals.
- Place garbage out on the morning of the scheduled pickup, rather than the night before.
- Always supervise pets – keep dogs on a leash and keep cats indoors or supervised when outside.

Agincourt Community Recreation Centre Activity Relocations
Recently, the Agincourt Community Recreation Centre was devastated by a 5-alarm fire that has rendered the Centre unusable for the near future. All facilities are now closed indefinitely and all recreation programs are currently being relocated to other Community Centres and locations across northern Scarborough. This includes upcoming March Break and Summer Camp programs, as well as other programs due to begin in the coming months. Credit reimbursements and refunds are being offered to people affected
For more information regarding program relocations and reimbursements, please call 416 338 4386 or 416 396 7378.
