October 17, 2017 – Councillor Jim Karygiannis and the CanadaFlag150 Team invites Torontonians to add 150,000 signatures to the Canadian Flag

Toronto, ON – Jim Karygiannis, City Councillor for Ward 39, Scarborough-Agincourt, will be joined by the CanadaFlag150 Team at Toronto City Hall to break a world record for the highest number of signatures on one Canadian Flag.

On Thursday, October 19, 2017 the CanadaFlag150 Team will be stationed in the Toronto City Hall Rotunda where they will invite City Hall staff, and members of the public, to add their signatures to the Canadian flag. The Team has the goal to collect 150,000 signatures on the flag to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday this year.

“As the Newcomers Advocate on Toronto City Council, I know how meaningful and special the Canadian flag is to our newcomer communities who have made Canada their home. We are all proud to call Canada home and to live in a country that celebrates the diversity of our communities as part of our rich history,” said Councillor Karygiannis.

“I invite members of the public, and City Hall staff, to visit the City Hall Rotunda to sign the Canadian flag and to meet the members of the CanadaFlag150 Team who are leading this great initiative. By adding your signatures to the flag, you will not only break a world record, but also add to our country’s special and diverse social fabric,” concludes Councillor Karygiannis.

All members of the public are welcome to attend.
