COMMUNITY SAFETY CONCERNS
In the past week, there have been two instances of gun violence in the Chester Le neighbourhood. On Thursday, April 13th two men were injured after gun shots were fired in a laneway at Chester Le Boulevard and Pettibone Square. On Saturday, April 15th a man was found dead in a parking lot after overnight gun fire in a local parking lot.
I am very concerned with the level of gun violence in our neighbourhood. I have been hearing from residents who are concerned for their safety and the safety of their family members, especially children and seniors. One incident of gun violence is too many. I have communicated with the 42nd Division of the Toronto Police. They have stated these are active investigations by the Homicide Squad. There are few details the Police can give out that haven’t already been released to the media. The Police have increased patrols in the area and are actively seeking witnesses to the shooting.
If you have information, please contact the Toronto Police directly through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). I take community safety with the utmost concern and will work to ensure that our neighbourhoods are kept safe for our families.
BELL CANADA NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION
Aecon Utilities has been in Ward 39 performing construction for the purpose of upgrading Bell Canada infrastructure to support Fibre to your home and your neighborhood.
Our office is aware of situations where property owners have seen significant excavations on their lawns. We are monitoring these situations closely.
Aecon will be installing new or repairing old infrastructure on the municipal property out in front of your property. They will do their best to keep excavations, traffic disruptions and any other inconveniences to you to a minimum during their work. Once their work is complete affected areas will be restored to as good as or better than it was prior to the work. Please be advised that any excavations done in hard surface will be restored using temporary asphalt and will later be fully restored by the City as per City specifications.
For any inquiries regarding this work please contact the Customer Service Representative: Kevin at email@example.com or (416) 768-2919. If you have any questions or concerns about the construction or the effect on your property, please also contact my office directly at (416) 392-1374 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
COMMUNITY CLEAN UP and COMPOST DAY
Our Community Clean-Up Day in Ward 39 will be next Friday, April 21st, 2017.
This coincides with Earth Day and is part of the City of Toronto’s annual spring campaign to “Clean Toronto Together”. I encourage the students and staff at schools to take 20 minutes to “spruce up” your school yards and help contribute to keeping our community clean.
We have an allotment of environmental bags in our office. If your school or organization requires more bags, please let us know so we can provide them to you (we will have them delivered). For any questions, I can be reached by phone at (416) 392-1374 and by e-mail at email@example.com.
As a reminder, our annual Compost Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 27th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Bridlewood Mall.
AEGEAN ISLAND SHOWCASE AT THE SCARBOROUGH CIVIC CENTRE
As Canada marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation, it is a time to not only look towards the future, but to examine our past. It is a time to learn and celebrate the many cultures which make up our great country.
The Magic of the Aegean is a project of the Greek Canadian Federation of the Aegean Islands to showcase the culture, customs and traditions of the Aegean Islands and how they have been woven into the Canadian fabric by those who came to Canada looking for a new life.
As part of the The Magic of the Aegean project, “The Aegean – Embedded in the Canadian Mosaic” is a special showcase of the unique customs, culture and traditions of the Aegean Islands. It will be presented at the Scarborough Civic Centre.
It gives me great pride and pleasure to invite you to “The Aegean – Embedded in the Canadian Mosaic” as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of Canada. The showcase will take place on
