Undecided councillors firmly undecided on Gardiner
Toronto Sun Don Peat June 9, 2015
It’ll be a fight on the council floor Wednesday for the councillors who are still undecided on the Gardiner Expressway issue. A day before council begins debating the future of the east end of the elevated expressway, many of the undecided councillors were remaining firmly undecided. According to an ongoing poll of councillors by the Sun, 16 support removing the Gardiner east, 16 support Mayor John Tory’s hybrid option and 13 remain in the wildcard category. Of the wildcards, seven say they’re undecided, four refuse to answer the question, one (Rob Ford) supports maintaining the highway as it is, and one (Jim Karygiannis) wants a 60-day pause to look at building a Gardiner tunnel. Councillor John Campbell said he doesn’t support either removing the expressway or the hybrid as proposed.
