March 21, 2015 – Spring Toronto City Council Update
At the February 12, 2015, meeting of Toronto City Council, I put forward Motion MM3.2 recommending that –
“…City Council reconfirm its decision to support building the Scarborough Subway on Sheppard Avenue.”
City Council referred Motion MM3.2 to the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is scheduled to debate the issue at its meeting on March 25, 2015. Residents of Ward 39 have an opportunity appear before the committee and have their voices heard on this important transit issue. Please contact my office at 416-392-1374 for more information.
At the March 10-11, 2015, special meeting of Toronto City Council, Councillors debated the 2015 Operating Budget and the 2015-2024 Capital Budget and Plan.
The Operating Budget will enable us to look after the immediate needs of the people of Toronto, by making investments in services and infrastructure, while putting families first and keeping taxes low.
The Capital Budget sets out a plan to meet the future needs of the City, which will help ensure that everyone will be able to participate in Toronto’s growing prosperity.
City Council approved the Budget which keeps the residential tax increase at 2.25%, which is less than the rate of inflation.
The Budgets were approved following two days of Council deliberations.
