January 30, 2015 – McNicoll Bus Garage meeting to be hosted by TTC

Residents, local councillor want planned facility moved to another location

Scarborough Mirror Jan 30, 2015

The TTC is again bringing its plans for the McNicoll Bus Garage to northwest Scarborough residents on Thursday, Feb. 5.

The commission, which bought land east of Kennedy Road and north of McNicoll Avenue in 2005, says a garage is badly needed to service its expanding bus fleet.

It hopes to build the garage by the end of 2019 and is inviting nearby residents to a meeting Thursday at Mary Ward Catholic School on Kennedy, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to begin a “transit project assessment process.”

The public event includes a presentation, a question and answer period, and Chinese translation.

Scarborough-Agincourt Councillor Jim Karygiannis, as well as representatives of senior’s homes in the area, have said they still hope to convince the TTC to move the project elsewhere.
